Four volumes, dated 1826 on title page but prefatory notice dated 1827. Half calf over marbled boards, twin red spine labels, gilt. pp xi; 394;416;395;423. The calf spine of vol I has been replaced with matching modern calf incorporating the orginal labels. Volume I has an engraved portrait of Boswell after Reynolds which has offset onto the title page and is stained across the corners. There are two folding facsimiles. Despite some minor foxing contents are generally bright and clean. the marbled boards are rubbed with loss of surface. Hinges have been reinforced internally using paper matching the endpapers.
