Volume I is largely concerned with the natural history and pre-history of the county. It also has sections on Roman Norfolk and the Anglo-Saxon period. There are 6 double page maps in colour, an engraved frontis plate, a colour plate and numerous bw illustrations, pp 351. Volume II contains the Domesday Survey for Norfolk, The Danegeld assessment, Ecclesiastical History (Religious Houses) Political History and a chapter on Mediaeval Painting.
